The Trials and Tribulations of Daytime Television

Hi, everybody! I hope you are all doing well, and I am looking forward to getting back into a more regular blog schedule sometime soon (including seeing what's new with all of you!). I am definitely feeling stronger each day - I am no longer using the cane while in the house, I am showering on my own, and all gastrointestinal systems are back to normal (thank goodness.... oy!). As I mentioned, it is so amazing to actually be IMPROVING, following the past three years of steady decline in physical wellbeing and quality of life. The way I see it - in March, I turn 30, and it will truly be the start of a new chapter of my life. Woohoo!

I can't honestly remember the last time that I was home for this many days in a row (college winter break? No, even then I had a job). I am slowly being sucked into the roller coaster that is daytime tv. For instance, I have never watched Project Runway before, in my life. So, what did I wind up doing all day yesterday? Watching a marathon of the first season on Bravo. Granted, I slept on and off throughout the six hour block, but - PHEW! That sure took a lot out of me ;) Watching tv for so long is HARD WORK! Add in Ellen, Family Feud, Who Wants to Be a Millionaire, various news programs, Biography Channel, etc.... there's so much!

But, it hasn't all been television... I have had some very nice visits from friends, including an awesome "Singstar Pop" duel with Sarene. Today, I hope to go out to lunch with a friend of mine who promises to take me to a quaint Scottish area here in Jersey. It will be nice to get some fresh air, though I am honesty concerned about sitting too long. I will have to really watch the clock and change positions as often as possible.

Well, that's all for now. What do you get "sucked into" n the television when you have the day off?

I used to love Project Runway. I haven't seen the new season. Glad you are recovering well!

Hee! I always get suckered into good ol' Lifetime movies.

What's the actual date of your birthday?

You're one hell of a Singstar Pop dueler! :-D

So glad you're doing well and that you're heading out today!

Happy things are progressing so beautifully -- you've got youth on your side, sistah!

I get sucked into a nap with Steve the cat, which allows me to stay up late and watch "House" -- airs at 11pm, well past my normal bedtime!

So glad to hear you are feeling better, getting stronger and are up to visitors! I think I forgot to tell you about the gastro stuff being a little difficult for a while... sorry if I left that out!

I am a serious TV junkie, but most of all I love to watch Lifetime movies. Tom always rolls his eyes and asks me which man-hating plot is on. I must confess I am watching one right now as I write... Do they have Lifetime Anonymous? I think I have a problem.

My laptop wins over TV, until I get tired, then a DVD will go on - usally and old classic or a Harry Potter movie...cannot handle daytime TV. Glad you're feeling better!!!

I am glad that my sister was able to help you with your experience.

Also...daytime tv is terrible...being a SAHD I know better than most...thank g-d for taped programs on my Tivo!

They really suck you in with those marathons though...you get stuck watching Rock of Love for 6 hours...lol

It's a classic but it's so true, if there's a TV in front of me and 'The Price is Right' is playing, then goodbye 'cause I'm in it with Drew Carey!

BTW, Drew Carey was a perfect pick, he's pretty awesome.

(side note: American Idol is back...)

I got suckered into Project Runway through a marathon last year and now I am addicted. Be careful with the daytime shows - I got hooked during my first maternity leave and now I tape all sorts of crap.
